Ethan has slept in his own room every night this week. All night long. In his own bed. Without a fuss! He really likes his room and his bed so its pretty easy to convince him to sleep in there. I thought it would be very difficult to get him out of our bed, however, I have been totally surprised at how easy it has been!
We brush his teeth, change the diaper, and put on PJs. He tells Daddy goodnight, then we grab Buddy and head to his bedroom. Sometimes he wants a book and sometimes he doesn’t care. I put him on the bed and he pouts a bit while I turn off the light. I lay down next to him for about 30 seconds to a few minutes, then I roll off the side of the bed and just get up and walk out of the room. He pouts and whines and cries a bit and calls for “Maaaaaaa????”, but he doesn’t get out of bed. I don’t even think he sits up. He quiets down within a minute or two and then he’s out for the night. Unbelievable!
He did fall out of the bed one night which startled him a bit. He didn’t want to go right back to bed, so I put him in bed with me because I was tired. But that is the only instance this week that he has not slept the entire night in his own bed! Let’s hope he continues to like his big boy bed in his big boy room!
