uh oh.
That is his newest phrase. It comes complete with the action of throwing things on the ground just so he can say “uh oooooooh”.

I started off the day with one tiny post to let everyone know we are still alive, but I’m just too busy to post right now. I worked my butt off today and decided to look at the hundreds of photos I’ve taken in the last month and post some of them on the blog. I may have gone overboard…. make sure you look at all the posts below this one. I posted a ton today. Hope this tides you over for a while!
Ethan loves to play outside and get dirty. He helped Aaron plant some squash plants last weekend. We also bought him a Tonka truck to play with outside. He loves to push it around and ride in it. He also loves to play with the waterhose now too. He tries to turn it on, but luckily for him he is not strong enough yet.
Hi – we are still alive. Although I might not be for much longer because my brain is slowly melting from working too much.
Once again, overwhelming busy-ness has struck and I’ve neglected the blog. And I sprained my foot. And Ethan has a cold. I’m up at this ridiculous hour because he needed a breathing treatment. His cold is not anything serious, but he is awfully snotty and congested. You can tell he doesn’t feel well, but he’s still in a pretty good mood overall. He stayed home with me yesterday instead of going to daycare, but we can’t do that today too. I hope he starts feeling better soon.
Aaron’s alarm clock just went off. That is funny. I didn’t see the point of going back to sleep after Ethan’s breathing treatment, so I’m the first one up for a change. I might as well write a blog.
Ethan communicates very well now. He is increasing his vocabulary at an amazing rate. I have no idea how many words he says now, and he says something new almost every day. I feel like he can communicate what he wants or needs with me more often than not. He does get very frustrated when he can’t tell me what he wants. Or when he is so impatient that he can’t get the words out. He has begun whining and squealing and throwing tantrums when things don’t go his way.
He can recognize lots of body parts. He will point to his belly, head, ears, toes, feet, and nose. He tries to blow his nose. He will show you his hands if you ask him where his hands are. He really likes to show you where his belly is. And he likes to rub his belly.
I have caught him trying to feed his snacks to his toys and to the cats. He has fed the dog for months, but she begs so that is no surprise. What surprises me is when he shoves food in the kitty’s face and says More. Or when he asks me for a cookie and gives it to his dinosaur.
Aaron just hit snooze for the 2nd time. That alarm is really annoying.
Ethan loves to help us clean up the house. He will throw away trash in the trashcan. He will put away his toys if you ask him to help. He likes to use the swiffer and pretend to vacuum with it when one of us is vacuuming.
He also really loves cars and other things that he can roll around on the floor. His clipo block set came with the base for a car. He will put a couple blocks on it so that he has something to hang on to, and he will roll that thing all over the house making car noises. It holds his attention for quite a long time.
Ethan also loves to read his books. He has books strewn all over the house. He will randomly stop playing with his toys to sit down and read a book. He prefers for someone else to read to him, but he likes to pick which page you read.
He walks really well now and is starting to run. He can walk sideways and backwards and he can pull things behind him when he walks. This guy is one of his best friends right now. He started out by walking backwards and pulling so that he could see that the pelican was following him. Now he can walk normally and pull the pelican behind him. He also likes to feed his pelican cookies and other snacks.
Ethan loves to go outside. He begs to go outside every single day. He stands at the door and jiggles the knob and says “Owwwww Siiiiiide!!!” He doesn’t care if its dark outside or if its raining. He just wants to go out and play. I bought him a pair of rain boots so that he can stomp around in puddles when its wet outside.
There is really so much that I could write about, but I’m drawing a blank. My foot is on my mind right now so I guess I can write about that. I twisted my ankle last week and something popped in my foot. I saw a podiatrist a week ago, had some x-rays taken. X-rays did not show any obvious fracture but there was an “abnormality” in the cuboid bone which is exactly where the pain is. He told me to treat it like a sprain, NO WALKING, and to wear the boot to stabilize it. I haven’t been able to do those things. I won’t lie. I’ve walked on it every single day, but I do try to prop it up for a while. It doesn’t hurt all that bad if I walk on the inside of my foot, but it is very difficult to walk normally. I can’t really put much pressure on the injured side and I can’t wiggle it around without pain and I can’t sit on the floor very comfortably unless my leg is straight out in front. It is probably not wise for me to walk on it, but its hard to resist because I can find a way to do it without much discomfort. I have a follow up with the podiatrist today and I’m certain that he will not be pleased with my behavior.
Time to go make some coffee…
