8 Month Photos

July 2, 2008

Well, Ethan is nearly 9 months old, so maybe you could call these his 9 month pictures. Regardless, we finally took some time to do a portrait session today. It was so hard… next to impossible. He is insane!!! I only spent 30 minutes for the session, but at the end of it, I was dripping with sweat and exhausted. From here on, I will need a helper when I try to take his picture. He is way too active for me to do it all on my own.

Here are some of my favorites:

There are some more that I want to proof, but I have a lot of other things to catch up on first. I did take the time to go through some funny outtakes. These aren’t the best photographs, but they certainly show his personality and level of craziness.

He certainly looks innocent enough

Screaming and getting ready to crawl away

Yelling and coming after the camera strap

Trying to climb on me to attack/bite/beat/etc me

Being cute

Check out those teeth! And look at all the drool. I think he might be getting even more teeth because the drool is back in full force this week along with some biting and crabbiness.

Yelling and coming after the camera strap again

Sitting for a brief moment

Poor Eris really wanted to hang out on the fuzzy rug, but she was also terrified of the wild man.

Yes, he tackled the dog. He crawled right on over and pounced on her.

He chased her all over the rug. She did not want to leave the rug, so he just followed her from corner to corner as she tried to escape.

Eris taking her revenge

And this pretty much sums it all up. He is one wild and naked baby.

OK, here’s one more that I really like

We have been so busy lately! I’ve really been neglecting the blog. I can’t sleep tonight, so I figured I might as well post an update. We were sick for the past few days. I slept like a rock last night, and now I can’t sleep tonight. I may have recuperated a little too much.

Ethan is like a completely different child now. He does so many new things. He has 4 teeth and I think he’s about to get two more. He jabbers and squeals nonstop. He is absolutely wild and crazy. He is starting to throw temper tantrums. He can (and prefers to) feed himself little bits of food. He can CRAWL! He is a holy terror in his walker. He waves his arms when he wants to be picked up, and he reaches out to you if he wants to be held. He likes to cuddle and snuggle. He plays patty cake. He likes the sound of his own (very loud) voice.

Ethan clearly says Dada, and he knows who Dada is. He also says another D sound, and I think he’s trying to say doggie. He loves Eris so much. I can’t even describe how happy he is when he sees her. He doesn’t say Mama, booo. He has mumbled mama a few times when he gets very upset, but that has happened maybe three times. I don’t think it means anything.

Ethan is very mobile now. He can’t crawl with his belly off the ground, but he can army crawl really well. He looks like a freakish gimp – like swamp thing crawling out of the mud. Its pretty funny to watch him go. He puts himself up on all fours and he tries to move his hands, but when it doesn’t go as planned, he drops to his belly and shimmies across the floor.

He can REALLY get around well in his walker. He likes to walk around the kitchen, chasing the pets, and yell at the top of his lungs. He just wanders around yelling. I told you already he really likes to hear his own voice. I gave him a wooden spoon to play with the other day, and boy was he really a terror with that spoon. In addition to his marching and yelling, he twirled that spoon like a baton and smacked against anything he could find to make more noise. We also bought him a mini plastic bat at Target the other day. Once he gets better control of his movements, the pets will REALLY be in trouble from his bat and wooden spoon.

I really need to take some new pictures of Ethan. I have only taken one picture of him in the past 2 weeks and its been a very long time since we did anything other than snapshots. He has kept us too busy!

Here is a random assortment of snapshots from the past few weeks.

Sitting in the bath like a big boy

Eating Mac N Cheese for the first time. He wanted to feed himself!!
