Ethan is outgrowing his 0-3 month clothes moving up to the 3-6 month sizes! We went shopping this weekend and I picked up a few new things for him. A few new things to add to the huge number of things we already had at home, but I couldn’t help it. At Marshall’s, I found a ton of designer stuff. I got him a set of 5 Calvin Klein onesies for $10. Not bad at all considering that’s what I paid for a pack of plain white gerber onesies at target.

And I pulled out some of the stuff I got him for Christmas, such as this cute sleeper set from Baby Gap.

I still need to go through his closet and his drawers and organize what fits and what doesn’t fit. But he has kept me busy today… lots of eating, spitting, and pooping… so I didn’t get to finish the closet organizing.

Ethan’s really starting to develop a personality these days. He smiles a lot and he’s learning to laugh. Most of the time its just a noise like “huuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhh”, but sometimes he gets the giggles and lets out a little squeal. Poor guy though… everytime he lets out a good laugh, he gives himself the hiccups. And he doesn’t like the hiccups. So we get one good laugh out of him and then he’s mad for a while, heh.

I had a meeting at work today, so Ethan stayed at home and Mom came over to watch him. I was worried that he would be bad because he has refused to take a bottle the last few weeks. He was very good while I was gone, and I’m pretty sure that I missed him more than he missed me. He fussed and made faces about the bottle, but he did end up taking some milk from the bottle. I’m pretty sure that he enjoyed himself. He certainly is being a lazy little dude this afternoon.

Of course, I will probably jinx it by talking about it, but I am happy to say that Ethan is really starting to sleep well at night. He has slept for at least a 5 hour stretch most nights this week. He has had 3 nights in a row now. Last night he slept for close to 7 hours. The alarm clock woke him up, lol. And what’s even better is that he is sleeping like that in his pack n play, not in my bed. Of course, I do have a tendency to put him in the bed after I feed him in the early AM.

I have heard about the “magic” 11 pound mark… babies start to sleep when they reach 11 lbs. Well, it seems to be pretty darn true in Ethan’s case. As he approaches 11 lbs he has more and more nights with a long stretch of sleep. I am definitely starting to feel more rested.

I took Ethan to the pediatrician on Tuesday to have a weight check. He was 10 pounds 8 ounces and 23 inches long. He’s really getting big! I looked at the CDC Growth Charts to determine some percentiles for his growth. For 2 months old (his adjusted age based on due date) he is about the 25th percentile for weight and about the 50th for height. For his real age, 3 months, he is barely on the chart! 5th percentile for weight and 15th percentile for height. I’d say that’s pretty darn good. He seems to be right on track for his adjusted age.

As far as milestones go, he’s doing really well there too! Here’s a suggested milestones chart for babies up to 6 months. Ethan can do everything listed for 2 months, most of the stuff listed for 3 months, and some of the stuff listed for 4 months. Its amazing how much he learns and changes every day. He started laughing real laughs this week. Last week it was a laugh that sounded like “huuuuuuuuuh” and now it has progressed to a real laugh with a giggle and squeal. I’m still trying to get that on video, so I’ll post it whenever I get him to do it for the camera.

He got mad pretty quickly, so I didn’t get many pictures. I want to try some more poses, so we’re going to give it another go later this week.

These are my favorites from today:

Ethan had a nice long sleep last night. It lasted somewhere around 7 hours!! I nursed him to sleep and put him in his pack n play around 10 or 10:30. He didn’t wake up until Aaron’s alarm went off at 5:15. That is the second night in a row that he as slept well. Saturday night he slept from 9:30pm until 4am.

After he got up this morning, I fed him again and he knocked out again for another hour and a half. That gave me time to get a shower, drink some coffee and eat breakfast, check my voicemail, login to my work stuff and check my email. He’s just now starting to wake up.

Also, Ethan is 3 months old today!

Aaron and I bought new cell phones for Christmas, and they have video cameras built in. I took a few videos of Ethan and figured out how to put them on YouTube, woo hooo.

Ethan is making some cute baby noises these days…

And he also fusses alot when he wants to be held. He’s such a faker – as soon as you pick him up, he turns it off, lol.
