The renovation on the nursery is really coming along. Aaron just finished sanding the hardwood floor with the help of Andrew and Aaron. He’ll start the polyurethane tomorrow night, and the floor should be complete by the weekend.

Here’s a before/after picture comparison:

After finishing the sheetrock
Walls painted, electrical installed, floor sanded

After the floor is finished, the room will need blinds, trim, and doors. And some electrical outlet covers would probably be a good idea too. Oh, and it will need a good cleaning to get rid of all the dust. When its all finished, I’ll dig up a picture of what the room looked like prior to any renovation. Anyone remember the “Racecar room”? In case you were curious, the ugly gray racecar room is the room that is being renovated for the nursery.

Mmmmm K….. now for something truly disgusting and repulsive…

Check that out… That is my foot. My very very swollen foot. And that dent is a thumb print. I can dent my foot with my thumb like silly putty. Its horrifying. I really need to put my feet up for a while. I’ve been really busy lately – on my feet a lot and working a lot at the desk. I get more work done when I’m sitting at a table, but I’m going to have to move to a reclining position. Too much pressure from sitting on my butt for so long is causing major major swelling in my legs and feet.

When we went to Gulf Shores in July, I randomly took pictures of my feet. Good thing I did because it provides a great comparison to show you what my feet *should* look like compared to the swollen mass they appear to be now. Here’s a look at my foot at 23 weeks pregnancy, compared to 33/34 weeks.

Pampers and Pampered Chef

September 23, 2007

Yesterday was my shower at Nancy’s house. It was a combined baby shower for me and Pampered Chef party for Nancy, and it was a lot of fun.

Here are some pictures:

Lots of wonderful gifts

Jessica looks jealous of the fleece blanket – time to re-think the 5 year plan.

32 Week Belly Pictures

September 20, 2007

Week 6 compared to today, 32 weeks 2 days

And here’s week 6, week 30, and week 32.

I had another doctor appointment today. I’ve gained 26 lbs, still measuring on target with my due date, blood pressure is good, etc. I have another appointment in two weeks, then we switch to weekly appointments. The doctor said there is one more test to run – checking for Group B Strep – and after that its just “wait till the baby comes”.

Eris & Baby Jerk

September 17, 2007

The dog has been frightened of my belly for the past few weeks. She won’t touch it and doesn’t want to look at it. She will turn her head away if you try to force her to look. Tonight, however, it seems that she changed her mind about the belly. Doggie and I were cuddling on the couch, and she decided to lounge on my belly. Aaron snapped a picture from across the room and I took one up close. The pictures were taken with the crappy camera, but they are still pretty funny.

painting today

September 15, 2007

Today we are priming the new drywall in the dining room and the nursery. The first coat of primer is finished, so I’m taking a break. We should have the priming finished today, and start on the colors tomorrow. We expect to have all the painting done by Monday night. At some point this weekend, we are going to return our leftover ceramic tile to Home Depot and purchase the blinds for the two rooms under construction. It won’t be long before the rooms are finished and ready for furniture and baby supplies.

Over a week ago I scheduled a prenatal massage at Salon Rubin for Sept 14 at 6:30 pm. The massage person called me on Thursday to confirm my appointment and I was really looking forward to it. Last night I show up at the salon and the massage lady was surprised that I was pregnant. They didn’t schedule it as a prenatal massage, so she wasn’t prepared and I didn’t get a massage. I cried (bawled would be more appropriate) all the way home. I was sobbing so loudly when I walked in the house Aaron probably thought I had wrecked my car or something. I was so mad that they screwed up the scheduling. I think all my sobbing made the baby jerk really mad because he/she moved into a position that gave me a horrendous backache for the rest of the night. We had to go to Walmart last night and buy a stick on heating pad so I could go to sleep. Stupid jerk salon people…

Nursery Renovations

September 10, 2007

Here’s a little progress report on the renovation of the baby’s room. This weekend, Mike came over to help Aaron finish the sheetrock. They finished sanding and they sprayed the texture on the walls and ceiling. Tonight Aaron and I will head to Home Depot to pick out paint and a light fixture. After the walls are painted and the electrical is finished (about 2 to 3 days), Aaron will start refinishing the floor. We’ll have to stay at mom’s house while he is doing that b/c the polyurethane fumes are bad.

I took a few pictures of the room today:

Its really hot in the house today. We have the thermostat set at 80 because the power bill was so high last month. I’m doing a lot of cleaning today, so I’m taking a break now to cool off a bit. I figure I will write some stuff to the blog to keep myself occupied.

The baby is moving around a lot lately. Last night we very clearly saw a foot or a knee move across my belly. The baby’s favorite thing to do is go lopsided and the bump keeps getting taller and taller. The doctor said that is the baby’s butt poking out. It feel pretty weird sometimes.

I force the dog to lay on my belly and let the baby kick her. She hates it. I think she’s afraid of my belly. She doesn’t want to look at it or touch it. I have to hold her down to make her relax. She will put a paw or two on my belly on her own, but that’s about it. She used to lay on me and nap, but those days are gone for now, lol.

I’ve developed a faint linea nigra on my belly. I thought I had one on the lower part of my belly, but I can’t really see that side anymore, so I wasn’t sure. Aaron noticed it this week, and I’ve noticed that its forming a bit on the upper side of my belly too. I didn’t think I’d get one because my skin is so light in complexion. But the line is really light to match my skin – just barely darker than my skin color.

I am cleaning out my closet and dresser today. All the clothes that don’t fit are really getting in the way and making my dresser really messy, so I’m getting them out of there. I’ve filled up one laundry basket with just the clothes from my dresser. Its looking much better now.

Aaron is working on the nursery and dining room renovations today. He’s sanding the sheetrock and will probably put the texture on it this evening. Maybe we can paint tomorrow. I’m not sure if he’s going to want to do the floor before we paint. I’ll take some pictures once there is something worth looking at. Right now its just a construction site. I think it looks great, but it probably wouldn’t impress anyone else since its just a room full of sheetrock dust.

I threw up today and that was gross. I burped and puke came up. I didn’t feel nauseous at all. It really sucked. I also am sneezing a lot from all the sheetrock dust and that makes me nearly pee myself. Yippee!!!

I’m sure some of my readers will not care about the condition of my breasts, but my preggo readers might be interested in hearing about this recent development. So if you don’t want to hear about the functioning of mammary glands, do not keep reading… you have been warned…

Yes, my boobs seem to be in good working order these days, lol. They have started leaking colostrum in the last week. Thank goodness this only happens at night. I had read that larger breasts didn’t leak as much as smaller breasts, but I guess that is not necessarily true. If it is true, I feel sorry for people with smaller boobs b/c I feel like I’m leaking alot!! I woke up at 5:30 AM this morning with a puddle on my body pillow. I bet Aaron is glad I wasn’t cuddling with him!! Thank goodness he is not as grossed out by this as I am.

I guess I shouldn’t say that I’m grossed out, but I just didn’t think this would happen so early, so I’m a bit surprised. Anyone else leak at 30 weeks? It seems like it came out of nowhere. And my boobs don’t hurt or feel like they gotten much larger this week. Oh well… I have decided today that I should start wearing nursing pads.

30 week ultrasound

September 6, 2007

We had the 30 week ultrasound today. The baby looks great and is measuring a bit large. I’m 30 weeks, 2 days today but the baby is measuring almost 32 weeks. He/She weighs about 3 lbs, 13 ounces. I have gained a total 24 lbs, but I was weighed on the stupid scale that always measures heavy. My total weight gain is really probably around 20 lbs. I have another appointment in 2 weeks.

Here’s a picture that Aaron took of me at the doctor’s office.

Here are a few screen shots from the DVD. As the baby’s bones develop, the ultrasound images are less clear so the pictures aren’t very good. The baby’s hand was in front of its face, so it was hard to get a good shot of the face. The doctor tried jiggling the baby a bit, but he/she was determined not to move the hand.

After the doctor’s appointment, we planned to go to Ruth’s Chris for lunch since today is our 4 year anniversary. But Ruth’s Chris isn’t open for lunch on Thursdays, so we went to Drago’s instead. It was really really tasty!
