lopsided…

August 27, 2007

I finally got a picture of the lopsided belly before the baby moved. This has become a regular occurrence, but I never have a camera really close by. I will reach over for the phone to take a picture and by the time I get it in the frame, the baby has relaxed and I’m not so lopsided. Well, this time I caught him/her in the act of making my belly look all crazy…

Can you tell that the right side is quite a bit higher than the left? I looks much weirder in person. And its quite an odd feeling…

maybe its not the lamp

August 24, 2007

I think the baby just likes to hang out on the right side of my belly, and it has nothing to do with the lamp on the left side of the bed. I’m sitting here with the lamp off and the overhead light on and the baby is smooshed over on the right side making my stomach all lop-sided again. Now it has started wiggling and making the belly shake. Oh and my stomach seems like its getting hairy. I told Aaron and he said he’s going to be get me some hair for my feet so I can be a hobbit for Halloween. Isn’t that nice?

I think the baby likes gummy bears b/c everytime I eat a few, he/she starts going crazy. I can’t imagine what kind of movements the baby is making, but it kind of feels like both arms and legs are moving/shaking around all at the same time after I eat gummy bears. Like the baby is having a major sugar rush like Beavis as the Great Cornholio.

I signed up for a few classes at Northshore today. I realized that I had neglected to sign up for the childbirth education class, and I got worried that it might be too late. They had a spot open in the October one-day course, so I registered Aaron and myself for that one. I also signed up for a breastfeeding class in October.

I completely forgot to take belly pictures this week. I planned to start doing them weekly by this point, but that’s not working out so well. Sorry….

I have noticed lately that the baby jerk likes to hang out on the right side of my belly. My stomach will look all lopsided b/c the baby decides to push itself all the way to the right. Its not painful, but not exactly comfortable either. Well, this only seems to happen when I’m lounging in the bed at night, and I think I have figured out why. I turn off the overhead light and turn on the really bright lamp that sits to the left of the bed. I am starting to think that they baby is moving away from the bright lamp to take refuge in the dark. Maybe I’m making that up in my mind, but it certainly seems to be the case. If I’m lounging during the day with the overhead light (or daylight) on, the baby just moves around and kicks. But when I’m lounging at night with the side lamp on, the baby moves away from the lamp and makes my stomach look all crazy.

Surprise Baby Shower!

August 18, 2007

I’m still in shock – today everyone at work surprised me with a Baby Shower! We were all meeting for lunch to celebrate a few birthdays in the group. People were showing up with gifts, and I felt bad because I didn’t get anything. I didn’t even notice that everything was in baby-related wrapping, lol. I was totally shocked that they did this for me!!! Everyone that I work with is so great and so generous. I am just amazed by their kindness!

Here are a few pictures. I took one of the cake before I realized that it was a baby shower, lol. I thought it was cute that they included “Congratulations, Brandi” on the birthday cake!!

And here are a few shots of all the stuff they got us!

They had been planning this for a while, and I had absolutely no idea. Even Aaron knew they were going to do a baby shower for us because he had been talking to Leonard on the phone about it. Leonard called one day to ask me a question about work, but Aaron answered the phone for me. Before he brought me the phone, he exchanged numbers with Leonard so they could be in contact without me knowing!!! And Jo went to Babies R Us last weekend when she went to the movies. She apologized today for not inviting me to the movies because they had to go shopping in secret!!

August 17, 2007

I can’t do the standard belly picture comparisons that you all look forward to. Its just not working out well in this stupid hotel room. instead, you get some close up shots of the belly. enjoy!

third trimester

August 13, 2007

I start the third trimester this week (today if you want to be technical). Tomorrow begins week 27 and the 7th month!

I’ve been really busy with work since arriving in Memphis, but things are going well. I’m feeling really good and not tired from all the extra activity. I didn’t sleep well last night b/c I had a mountain dew late in the day, so I’m very tired today. But work certainly isn’t wearing me out, so that’s a good thing. I haven’t had time to take pictures, but I will try to remember to do it this week. I certainly am growing, lol. The baby is moving around a lot. It was turned head down the other day and kicking me a alot up high. I had terrible heart burn for a few days while that was going on. Baby Jerk would stretch his/her legs out and push out the top of my stomach. It was a really weird feeling. The baby has turned back around the other way now and I’m feeling a lot of movement down low. Lots of kicks to my colon. Isn’t that nice???

I went to a bar Saturday night with some people from work and had a really good time. We went to the Flying Saucer in Memphis to drink some beer and listen to music. The Flying Saucer is the best beer bar I’ve ever been to. I couldn’t pass up trying a few new beers while I was there, so I bought a flight (5 samplers of beer) had a sip or two of each and passed them around to my friends. Nobody complained that I bought beer I couldn’t drink, lol. I think everyone was impressed with my ridiculous level of beer knowledge also. The Flying Saucer is so awesome they even have 3 different imported non-alcoholic beers. So I did get to sit around and “drink beer” with the rest of the crew!

I am trying to motivate myself to start organizing our registries. Aaron came up with me for the first weekend I was here, so we went to Babies R Us and started a registry. I’m trying to get it organized and move some stuff to a Target registry, but I’m finding too many other things to keep me occupied. I also need to buy some books from Barnes and Noble (which is across the street from Target) but I can’t get motivated to drive all the way over there!!

less than 100 days… omg

August 7, 2007

So I looked at the baby ticker thing just now and realized there are less than 100 days to go. I knew it was coming up and thought about it a few days ago, but i’ve been so busy I forgot. It really surprised me to see it on the ticker thing.

Aaron and I went to Babies R Us on Sunday and put some stuff on a registry. That was pretty exciting! The BrU people were very nice and congratulated us.

I’m working in Memphis until Labor Day weekend. Its been really busy so far. I probably won’t be online much in the next few weeks. I worked 10 hours yesterday and I had a 13 hour day today. I went out for lunch, but it was all work talk and taking notes the whole time, so I consider that to be part of my work day. Don’t worry though – I will get plenty of rest. I did make it to the grocery store to stock up on lots of healthy snacks. And I’m drinking lots of water. And peeing a lot, lol.

Week 25 Belly Pics

August 2, 2007

Week 6 compared to today, 25 weeks 2 days

And here’s week 6, week 21, and week 25.

I had my last doctor’s appointment today before heading to Memphis to work for a month. I’m up a total of 19 lbs. WOW!!!! I got the stupid Rhogam injection in my butt. It burned a lot, but its not sore now. Hopefully it will stay that way. I’ll have my next appointment on Sept. 6 for the 30 week ultrasound. Sept. 6 is also our 4th wedding anniversary – what a nice way to spend it :) I rented a doppler to bring with me to Memphis. I tried it out today, and I could hear the heartbeat loud and clear.

I took some other pictures today, but I don’t have time to resize them right now because I’m busy with work. Maybe I’ll post them later today or tomorrow.
