new clothes and gear

June 30, 2007

We had a very exciting Friday! I got a ton of new maternity clothes in the mail from Old Navy. 2 pair of linen pants, 5 tanks, 4 shirts, 1 cardigan, and 1 hooded jacket. Now I have a ton of clothes to get me through the summer and my month of office work in August.

And my boss, Mike, gave us a really awesome gift! He picked up our travel system from Target. We got the Graco Vienna travel system in the Hennington pattern. Initially we picked out the Hemmingway pattern, but I think its discontinued because Target doesn’t care it although its the color they have on display. When I opened up the box with the Hennington pattern, I was pleasantly surprised. I like it even better than the one we initially picked out!
Here are a few pictures of the stroller and car seat

And a third exciting item: I ordered a new lens for my camera! It will be here on Tuesday, yay!

Half-way woo hoo!

Look at the baby ticker – today its right in the middle – 20 weeks!

I didn’t mention on here that we gave the baby a nickname the other day. Skeletor… The ultrasound was pretty creepy how it would flash from baby face to baby skeleton face back to baby face again. Aaron and I decided that it reminded us of Skeletor.

And I also had a dream about the baby Sunday night. I dreamed it was a boy…. but a boy iguana. Yes, I dreamed it was a lizard. And nobody found this to be odd at all. Aaron and I were quite pleased because we already know how to take care of iguanas. “This will be so easy, we are already know what to do!”

I decided to go ahead and watch the first part of the ultrasound and get some screen shots. It was a little while before the doctor told us not to look, so I just watched the first few mins. Here’s a slideshow of the pictures. To see them larger, click on the link to the photo album.

Ultrasound Results

June 22, 2007

Sorry, no picture yet. I have one picture that the doctor printed, but the scanner doesn’t work with my laptop, so it may be a while before I get the picture online. Last time I pulled some screen shots from the DVD, but I can’t do that this time. I can’t watch the DVD because I might figure out the sex of the baby. The doctor had us turn away when he did the leg measurements, just in case it became obvious. And he said that it was obvious to him, and if we knew what to look for it would be obvious to us too if we watched the DVD. Soooo, we are not watching the DVD, and thus, I cannot create screenshots to post online.

The ultrasound was really neat for us, but the baby didn’t like it. He/she was moving around alot and punched the ultrasound wand a time or two. The doctor would focus in on something, and the baby would move away, lol. All that movement made me realize what the baby movements feel like – when the baby punched or kicked on the screen, I could feel it in my belly. Prior to seeing the baby on the screen, I just thought those movements were my stomach gurgling or something. Now I know what it is, which is pretty cool. The baby also had hiccups for a period and that was interesting. We reviewed all the major internal organs, and everything looks really great.

The doctor said that I have an anterior placenta and at this point its pretty close to my cervix, nearly placenta previa. But, he said not to worry because it will most likely move higher as my uterus grows. After reading about the condition, it would be silly for me to worry because 90% of people diagnosed with previa in the 2nd trimester no longer have placenta previa later in pregnancy. And I don’t even have it – its just close, so it shouldn’t be an issue. The only reason he mentioned it at all is because I asked where my placenta was.

I guess that is about all the news… Oh yeah, and I gained 6 more lbs from the last visit. I really don’t think that is entirely possibly – it has only been three weeks. I don’t eat THAT much to gain 2 lbs per week. That makes my weight gain 12 lbs total, but I am expecting that its some sort of anomaly.

Big ultrasound is today!

June 22, 2007

We got to the doc at 11:40 for the ultrasound. I will post pictures later! And sorry, we are not finding out if its a girl or boy…. you will have to remain in suspense for a few more months, lol.

Also, I want to add that mom told me about a sale at Old Navy. Last night I ordered a ton of maternity clothes cause it looks like I’m starting to need them. I also borrowed some clothes from Michelle that works with mom and they are awesome! Thanks, Michelle!

Here are the belly pics, in the usual format.

Week 6 compared to today (19 Weeks, 2 days)

And here’s week 6, week 17, and week 19 all together

Usually I take my biweekly belly pics on Thursday mornings in the same sports bra and comfy pants. I plan to do that tomorrow morning for consistency’s sake.

In the meantime, I took some pictures a few mins ago of how I look in normal clothing – Pre-pregnancy jeans with a belly band and an old Navy Maternity tank. Here I am with a little bit of a growing belly, somewhat bloated by a big lunch, but pretty true to life. It really got bigger over the last few days I think.

What do you think?

the baby is active

June 16, 2007

I’ve felt little things here and there that I thought probably was the baby, but this morning was the first time I knew absolutely for certain that’s what I was feeling. I woke up this morning laying on my stomach and I wasn’t ready to get up so I lay there for a while. I guess I pissed off the little one because he/she started moving around alot. I noticed a tapping sensation – it kept going and going for a few minutes, so I had plenty of time to think about it and recognize what it was. Now that I realized what I was feeling, I have noticed it more and I felt it a few more times today. And I realized that I have been feeling the baby move around a bit, but usually it only lasts a few seconds and its not too strong.

Also for the last few days, I’ve noticed some sharp pains in my cervix. Or at least I assume my cervix – not really sure. I guess that may be the baby also?? Its not a very strong pain – more of a painful twinge than a strong pain.

On another topic – we saw Knocked Up today in Slidell. It was way too hot outside to do anything productive, so we decided to check out a matinee showing. That movie is hilarious!! its pretty raunchy, so if you’re offended by rauchy movies, I wouldn’t recommend it. But we thought it was a really cute and funny romantic comedy.

However, there was one part of the movie that I did not find funny in the last. I nearly had a panic attack when she was in the hospital giving birth. This will sound like a drama queen – but I seriously started crying uncontrollably and Aaron almost took me out of there. I have no idea what my problem was – I’m not consciously scared of giving birth, but I guess a major fear resides somewhere in my subconscious because I really lost it. I really freaked out and felt pretty tense for about an hour after the movie. I’m a weirdo, I guess!

Puking again…

June 12, 2007

I think I have discovered the culprit…. too many blueberries.

When I puked last time, I had eaten lots of blueberries. I always eat lots of blueberries whenever I do eat blueberries, so the thought of them making me sick didn’t even cross my mind. However, today I ate a lot of blueberries and what do you know, today I puked.

Dang blueberries… Granny Rita was supposed to bring me more blueberries today, but she hasn’t come by yet. Maybe that is a good thing. Maybe I should stay away from blueberries for a while.
